Evolution vs. Creationism

Evolution Debate
A new Zogby poll shows 78 percent of U.S. voters want both sides of the evolution debate brought up in the classroom — up nine points from a similar poll three years ago. The poll, commissioned by the Discovery Institute, found both Democrats and Republicans overwhelmingly support discussion for and against evolution. "Many Darwinists are trying to paint supporters of academic freedom as some kind of crazy, fringe element," said Candi Cushman, education analyst at Focus on the Family Action. "The truth is, the majority of parents want their kids to examine all the scientific evidence, to engage in critical thinking and to have classrooms that are academically challenging — not controlled by political correctness."

Just Four in 10 Americans Believe in Evolution

A Gallup poll released this week shows that 39 percent of Americans say they "believe in the theory of evolution," while a quarter say they do not. Another 36 percent don't have an opinion either way, CNN reported. An earlier Gallup poll on this issue, that was conducted in May 2008, found that 44 percent believe God created human beings within the past 10,000 years.

Sounds like a consensus to me. Watch the liberals ignore it, though.

Senior Pastor of First Congregational Church of Waseca, MN.

Why are pastors scientifically illiterate? Why are pastors so interested in dumbing down science education?

That's a pretty ignorant assumption there Bob. Just saying.

10 of 10 biologists accept the basic facts of evolutionary biology, including our close evolutionary relationship with chimpanzee apes.

Why do biologists love evolution? Because they agree with this famous quote: "Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution."

Why are biologists 100% certain people share an ancestor with chimps? Because they can see this evolutionary relationship with their own eyes when they compare DNA sequences of these two ape species (human ape and chimpanzee ape). Every day they discover more undeniable evidence for the idea that chimps are our closest living non-human relatives. Biologists are no longer trying to prove evolution because evolution has been accepted as fact for more than a century. They continue to make new discoveries to better understand the history of life, and each new discovery also makes the facts of evolution stronger.

The evidence for evolution is so massive, and so powerful, the only people who deny evolution are uneducated people who are terrified of modern biology because it threatens their religious beliefs. Take away the insanity of Christianity, and it would become much easier for people to understand modern science.

Your use of the word "liberal" implies you think all pro-science people are liberals. Science has nothing to do with politics.

A consensus of non-scientists is meaningless. The scientists love evolution and that's more important than what uneducated people think.

The idea that magical creation should be taught in public schools by biology teachers will never work. The courts won't allow it, and biology teachers would rather quit their jobs than lie to their students about science.

Well I'm sure all the biology teachers of the world will sleep well tonight knowing they have a self appointed defender named Bob telling the world what they all think.

By the way Bob, why is it that religion scares you so much that you must suppress and oppress it? Quite open minded on your part.
