Dr. D. James Kennedy has died

Earlier this morning Dr. D. James Kennedy died and went on to meet his Creator. Dr. Kennedy had a heart attack earlier this year that he had been struggling to recover from. Dr. Kennedy is known for his ministry at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, his Evangelism Explosion (4th Edition), and his radio ministry Truths that Transform.

Memorial information for Dr. D. James Kennedy.

Ed Stetzer points to something Dr. Kennedy wrote when thinking about his own death:

“Now, I know that someday I am going to come to what some people will say is the end of this life. They will probably put me in a box and roll me right down here in front of the church, and some people will gather around, and a few people will cry. But I have told them not to do that because I don’t want them to cry. I want them to begin the service with the Doxology and end with the Hallelujah chorus, because I am not going to be there, and I am not going to be dead. I will be more alive than I have ever been in my life, and I will be looking down upon you poor people who are still in the land of dying and have not yet joined me in the land of the living. And I will be alive forevermore, in greater health and vitality and joy than ever, ever, I or anyone has known before.”

The only mode of discourse that encourages grown men and women to pretend to know things they manifestly do not (and cannot) know. If ever there were an attitude at odds with science, this is it. And the faithful are encouraged to keep shouldering this unwieldy burden of falsehood and self-deception by everyone they meet. Surely, we can grow in altruism and loving our fellow-man without lying to ourselves about the nature of the universe.

Outblaze, you would be wise to check out the claims of Jesus Christ, the validity of the Bible, before you cling to science as your God. Many in your own circle who believe science contradicts the Bible and vice-versa are realizing that they have been wrong. Intelligent Design is getting more attention and if there is a Master Designer/creator, the question needs to be asked, "Why did He create us, and What is my accountability to Him?" If you are wrong in your conclusions, you have EVERYTHING to lose...eternity is a long time. Kennedy really had nothing to lose in worshipping God and following Jesus Christ, even it he was wrong. However, if he was right, in death, as Kennedy said, he gained everything. At least think about it...
