Sermon - Luke 19:28-44 - Palm Sunday

My Palm Sunday sermon is now posted on line at WasecaChurch.org (direct link). Here's a teaser bit to get started on:

Have you ever been in rush hour traffic in Minneapolis and seen a car breakdown in one of the middle lanes? One car stops, then all the other cars stop, like a chain reaction. I can see people in my mind like the Three Stooges running into the back of each other like dominos. I can just hear the people way back in the crowd that day saying, "What’s the holdup? What is going on? Why don’t you guys move on?" and some guy is honking the horn on his 97 donkey.

But the people who were closest to Jesus could see and they realized that it was Christ who had stopped the parade. Then they saw His body begin to shake. Maybe at first they thought He was laughing. Laughter would seem to be natural - for everybody else was laughing and cheering. But then they saw His face and they saw no evidence of laughter. Scripture tells us that they saw sorrow and tears on his face. He was not laughing. He was crying.
